3 Trends I'm Taking With Me Into 2019

styleKat Crowley

Hi hunnies,

It’s almost 2019, so cue all the “trends I’m leaving behind in 2018” posts. Well, you know what? I’m bringing some with me! There are some trends I’ve been loving/haven’t tried yet that I want to keep in my wheelhouse into next year.

My sisters took these photos of me in Blue Hole Regional Park in Wimberley, TX. Beautiful location, right?? My sister, Juj, works there in the summer. If you’re ever in the Austin area, I recommend taking a day trip to swim at Blue Hole and walk the trails. Also check out Jacob’s Well (10 minute drive from Blue Hole). Wimberley is such a special place to me.

The dress I’m wearing is sold out on ASOS but I will link just in case they restock, plus some similar options!! It’s such a fun statement piece. I paired with my favorite Shein mules. Keep scrolling for all the details plus the 3 trends I’m bringing with me into 2019!

Ok, yes, we all know this is my my favorite trend currently. If you hadn’t noticed, I’m wearing it here and here and here. And I wrote and entire post about it here. It’s just fun and fresh and I can’t get enough. The dress I’m wearing in this post is a little more out there in color, but if you buy the print in it’s more common neutral tones, its a great way to add some texture and pizzaz without being too loud. Ya feel me? I see myself wearing snakeskin deep into 2019. Here are some snakeskin items I’ve been eyeing:

Crystal Detail

I dabbled with wearing crystal/rhinestone details for Femology’s 100 Detroit Female Bloggers event with these super cute hair pins from Target ( Yes/No pins below). I definitely want to get into some more bling in the new year! Adding some sparkle in your accessories is an easy way to take a simple look to the next level. I’m planning on getting a crystal belt (like the pink or gold option below) to pair with some mom jeans and a neutral top. I’ve been seeing so many hair accessories with a diamante look. Throwing on a headband with an oversized blazer and trousers will give your ‘fit a feminine touch. Keep an eye out, I might be wearing a few of the items below for NYE!

Kitten Heels

If you would have told me that kitten heels were a thing 2 years ago i would’ve been like, “Ew, no. Are you ok???!!” But I’ve really warmed up to them in the last 6 months! I think they are so chic when styled correctly (don’t pair with a cut off denim skirt and abercrombie shirt via 2004). I love the idea of pairing a slingback kitten heel with a wrap midi dress or midi skirt. They are v work appropriate but are feminine and fun! I’m especially in love with the green velvet, leopard print, and creme colored boots below. I can see myself wearing a kitten heel all of 2019.

Hi Hunnies!

Welcome to my very first meowkatcollab blog post!! I wanted to start a series where I can feature women at different points in their lives, different sizes, and different styles! In this post, I styled three lovely ladies and myself with fall’s must have: snakeskin. My biggest pet peeve is when I wear something and someone responds, “I could never pull that off”. It’s like, YES GIRL YOU CAN. This trend is so easy to incorporate into every day wear and honestly acts as a neutral in all of these outfits. For this shoot, I stuck to items (for the most part) from ASOS and Target. These are two of my favorite places to shop because A) affordable, duh and B) these are two brands taking steps to be more size inclusive. While I love brands like H&M and Lulus, their size run is very limited and won’t fit majority of the women in the US! Keep scrolling for my breakdown on all our outfits, complete with links to shop!

Juj C.

Age: 17 | style in 3 words: comfy, casual, different

For Juj’s outfit, I knew we wanted something fun and trend focused. She mostly shops at the thrift store and H&M, so she’s very much into snagging a deal. We opted for a snake print bowling style shirt (sold out, but I linked something v similar) for her pop of snakeskin. It offers a retro vibe and definitely makes a statement. We paired with some cropped wide cut trousers with white stitching that throw back to the 90’s. These are only $22.00 from Target’s Wild Fable line. They are available in sizes 00-18, which we love!! Juj styled with her beloved Sketchers (she’s into the dad shoe trend), a homemade scrunchy, and a delicate star necklace from Forever 21.

Kelly B.

Age: 19 | Style in 3 Words: Easy, Classic, Boxy (aka not tight)

Kelly enjoys combining comfort and style. She mostly shops at thrift stores, Forever21 and H&M. I wanted to pull together a look for her that she could wear out at college or just throw on some sneaks and go to class in at UT. We started with a pair of high waisted cropped denim from Target’s Who What Wear Collection. ($37.99 available in sizes 2-24!!! ) With a color blocked wash and a wide leg fit, they are fashion forward and very much vintage inspired. Kelly is into natural tones (a girl after my own heart), so for the top we went with a tan boxy cut, mock net tee. A snakeskin belt completed the look. Adding a fun belt will punch any outfit up to the next level, I promise! Kelly paired with her trusty high top Vans to make it totally her.

Lyn C.

Age: 57 | Style in 3 words: casual, comfortable, simple

Day to day you can find Lyn in a t-shirt and jeans, so I wanted to elevate that just a little for a look she can wear to church, out to dinner, or her ladies wine night. We decided on a mid-rise cropped denim from Target’s Universal Thread line. They are available in sizes 0-18 and are only $27.99. Target has the best sales, we grabbed these for $15.00 a few weeks ago using the Cartwheel app. For a top, we decided on a sleeveless cotton blouse with tie neck detailing and paired with some neutral brown flats from ASOS. She can swap out tennis shoes for these flats in the future for a comfortable alternative that is still chic! We finished off the look with a Topshop snakeskin bag. In this look the snakeskin acts as a neutral and ties everything together without being too loud.

Age: 25 | style in 3 words: feminine, always-changing, funky

I love mixing modern with vintage inspired for a style that is perfectly me. For this look, I went with a pair of distressed “Mom” style jeans from Target’s Wild Fable line. ($22.00 available in sizes 00-18) and paired with a balloon style sleeve top from Target’s newest line, Prologue. I love this top because I could easily pair with some trousers for work. For my touch of snakeskin, I went with a pair of ankle boots from ASOS. They sold out before I could post this blog, but I linked a similar option below. I’ve worn these boots probably every other day since I got them, they are so good! And they pair with almost grey/black/tan/brown/white in my closet.
