3 Trends I'm Taking With Me Into 2019

styleKat Crowley

Hi hunnies,

It’s almost 2019, so cue all the “trends I’m leaving behind in 2018” posts. Well, you know what? I’m bringing some with me! There are some trends I’ve been loving/haven’t tried yet that I want to keep in my wheelhouse into next year.

My sisters took these photos of me in Blue Hole Regional Park in Wimberley, TX. Beautiful location, right?? My sister, Juj, works there in the summer. If you’re ever in the Austin area, I recommend taking a day trip to swim at Blue Hole and walk the trails. Also check out Jacob’s Well (10 minute drive from Blue Hole). Wimberley is such a special place to me.

The dress I’m wearing is sold out on ASOS but I will link just in case they restock, plus some similar options!! It’s such a fun statement piece. I paired with my favorite Shein mules. Keep scrolling for all the details plus the 3 trends I’m bringing with me into 2019!

SNAKESKIN

Ok, yes, we all know this is my my favorite trend currently. If you hadn’t noticed, I’m wearing it here and here and here. And I wrote and entire post about it here. It’s just fun and fresh and I can’t get enough. The dress I’m wearing in this post is a little more out there in color, but if you buy the print in it’s more common neutral tones, its a great way to add some texture and pizzaz without being too loud. Ya feel me? I see myself wearing snakeskin deep into 2019. Here are some snakeskin items I’ve been eyeing:

Crystal Detail

I dabbled with wearing crystal/rhinestone details for Femology’s 100 Detroit Female Bloggers event with these super cute hair pins from Target ( Yes/No pins below). I definitely want to get into some more bling in the new year! Adding some sparkle in your accessories is an easy way to take a simple look to the next level. I’m planning on getting a crystal belt (like the pink or gold option below) to pair with some mom jeans and a neutral top. I’ve been seeing so many hair accessories with a diamante look. Throwing on a headband with an oversized blazer and trousers will give your ‘fit a feminine touch. Keep an eye out, I might be wearing a few of the items below for NYE!

Kitten Heels

If you would have told me that kitten heels were a thing 2 years ago i would’ve been like, “Ew, no. Are you ok???!!” But I’ve really warmed up to them in the last 6 months! I think they are so chic when styled correctly (don’t pair with a cut off denim skirt and abercrombie shirt via 2004). I love the idea of pairing a slingback kitten heel with a wrap midi dress or midi skirt. They are v work appropriate but are feminine and fun! I’m especially in love with the green velvet, leopard print, and creme colored boots below. I can see myself wearing a kitten heel all of 2019.

Cozy Sweaters for Winter? Groundbreaking.

styleKat CrowleyComment

Hi Hunnies,

I’ve been talking with my friend, Molly, this winter about feeling down during this dark and cold season. I wrote a post about this last year, but I introduced her to the idea of “hygge” (Danish idea that the winter is time for COZY). This idea has completely changed my outlook on winter. Basically, winter is time for blankets, cuddling, candles, reading, indoor activities; things you wouldn’t normally do in the hot months. Something you can only truly enjoy in fall/winter are CHUNKY ASS SWEATERS. You can’t argue, big sweaters just feel so RIGHT during the winter. I’ve leaned so hard into this this winter (literally only wear oversized sweaters to work…oops). I’ve curated a collection of comfy sweaters that are bound to make the next few months just a little bit cozier

HOLIDAY STYLE PICKS - UNDER $70

Hi Hunnies,

The holidays are upon us and that means LOTS of parties, gatherings, and celebrations. I have been trying to figure out my outfits for the holiday season in the past few days, and thought I would share some of the items I have found while browsing literally thousands of articles of clothing online. What kind of holiday festivities are y’all up to in the next few weeks?? (Actually though, I’m curious what everyone is up to!! Leave a comment! I don’t think anyone has ever commented on one of these… so that could be fun!! lol)

We went to Chicago last weekend to visit some of my favorites hunnies and go on the TBOX Ugly Sweater bar crawl. It was such a good time and deg got me in the holiday spirit. While we were in the city I was feeling so festive and shot this look with this STUNNING asos dress. I would totally wear this look to a Christmas party (a fancy party I guess? IDK I don’t go to those but wish I did). I got a little pattern crazy and paired the plaid ASOS dress with Target “A New Day” polka dot tights and my dusty trusty faux snake ASOS boots. I finished off the look with a H&M headband and some sparkly earrings.

Here’s the scoop: The material on the dress was just a bit thinner than I expected, but I think for such a cool design it’s worth the $61 price tag. I was just looking at the Target tights on target.com, and they had HORRIBLE reviews. Everyone said they ripped as soon as they put them on. Mine went on okay in Chicago and I wore them to work today and no rips! So maybe you just have to be gentle with them? The boots are my all time favorite, but are sold out on ASOS. I’ve linked some similar options below. I’ve been wanting to get a headband with a knot on top for awhile now and had my eye on this Scuncii by Sincerely Jules one but they never had it in stock at my local Target. I decided on snagging this H&M one when I was in there last week and love it!! It’s so cute easy to throw on. When you have a headband on people just assume you have your s h i t together.

Scroll to the bottom to see all of my style picks for any holiday gathering you may be attending this season. Whether it be an office party, family gathering, NYE, or a night out, I gotchu. Everything is under $70 bc I know we all be ballin’ on a budget. Happy shopping!

POWER SUITS

Hi Hunnies!

Over the weekend I attended the #100DetroitFemaleBloggers event hosted by Femology Detroit. It felt SO GOOD to be surrounded by women who value collaboration over competition in our fine city of Detroit. It reminds me that there is room for everyone in this industry and it can only help if we SUPPORT each other. The theme of the event was power suits and I chose this Unique 21 set from ASOS. I’m a neutral girl so I fell in love with this suit immediately. These wide leg trousers are high waisted and are super comfy. I’m wearing a size 2 for reference. I styled a mock neck t-shirt underneath the boyfriend fit blazer, but I love the idea of wearing nothing under the blazer á la Lady Gaga in Marc Jacobs. I finished off the look with my treasured Lack of Color hat, some Wild Fable hair pins, and a vintage beaded bag from The Get Up Vintage in Ann Arbor, MI.

I’ve pulled together some other power suit options (at the bottom of the post) for when you want to feel like a boss ass b*tch. All sets are under $150 and individual items are under $100. Happy shopping!

xx Kat
