Welcome to the last day of Week of Thrifting!! For this look I thrifted this turtleneck for .99 cents at Salvation Army and this bag for a few dollars at small thrift store in Texas. It's actually a cross body that I tied to sit around my waist. Pro tip: Do that to bags to create trendy fanny packs. Because who doesn't love a good fanny pack???
Here is my biggest piece of advice when it comes to thrift shopping: don't go in with any expectations. I know that sounds silly, but so many times I've gone thinking "I'm going to find a pair of old jeans to cut into shorts" and come up empty handed and disappointed! You never know what you're going to get at thrift stores. Sometimes there are a landmine of treasures and sometimes you leave with no items and your nose was assaulted by 1000 different smells.
My second piece of advice would be to ignore sizing. I've purchased items from the thrift store that fit me great at a size 6 or are huge on me at a 0. Sizing with different brands/ different decades can differ tremendously. Just grab everything you like and try it on! I tend to buy on the bigger side for sweaters and tops so sizing doesn't matter at all.
I asked my little sister, Juj, what her advice she has for thrifting (bc she is a thrifting goddess) and she responded with two sentences: "Get clothes your grandparents would wear" and "Find clothes that you usually wouldn't find at other stores". I couldn't agree more. Don't be afraid to get funky with your thrifting purchases. If you never wear it you are down $3.00 max.
I hope this advice helps at least a little and inspires you to go out and get thrifting! My outfit detail as always are linked below! Thanks for stopping by loves!
